DAY NINE--JANET BEGAY

And finally, Janet Begay, the star of the show.

Janet's had a rough start to life, being motherless, a bad thing to be in a matriarchical society. Because no one knows who Janet's mother's people or clans were, they don't trust her much. Of course, Janet's mother is a goddess from Beneath, and the evil she's invested in Janet is pretty powerful.

Janet's dad, on the other hand, is a sweet guy who was seduced by the goddess. He raised Janet on his own, with the help of Janet's formidable grandmother (who can become a Crow).

Janet is a Stormwalker, which means she can draw power from nearby storms and use it to work amazing magic. When it's storming, nothing can stop her. When it's not storming--good thing she has Mick. Her power manifested when she was a kid, and it terrified her. With the help of Jamison Kee and Mick, Janet has been able to hone her power to a controlled weapon.

But now, another power is rising within her, and she's not sure that she'll ever get that one under control. (More about this in FIREWALKER and SHADOW WALKER.)

Question of the day: What do you think of the urban fantasy genre overall? Is there too much of it? Or can't you get enough? Do you think it mixes well with romance? Or not at all?

There is alot of this genre out there right now. I have noticed alot of your YA readers enjoy it. I enjoy reading it. Romance has plenty of room for all these genres. I say keep it coming:)

I love this genre because I get adventure, different worlds and people with just enough love. I think it works incredibly well.

Janet is an awesome star of the series.

I love the genre and could never get enough. I do like when it is mixed with romance. Just about any book with a kick ass heroine works for me ;)

I think urban fantasy mixes very well with paranormal romance stories. UF tends to have a slightly difference voice and it's what I grab when I don't care as much about a hea.

I think it mixes perfect with romance-- and, of course, you can never get to much romance :-)

No, there is not too much out there. As far as mixing well with romance, it depends. I have read some, that were too dark and the HEA wasn't possible, but the ones that have a HEA or the possibility mix well.

What makes a more combustable combinaion than urban fantasy and romance...Absolutely Nothing!!
With all the ups and downs and the adventures they include nothing can stir the imagination more.

There can't be enough out there to read as far as I'm concerned.

I love Urban Fantacy Romance. I am drawn to outside the box thinkers and those who can write are even better. I just finished Meljean Brook's new steampunk The Iron Duke and it was fabulous! I've never read steampunk and it is definitely outside the box. My imagination is what keeps me reading as I can't think it up myself and I'm definitely not gifted in writing. Give me crafts though and I rock!
Go Allyson/Jennifer :)
